The Teddy Roosevelt Terrier is a small, low-set, muscular ratter with a short coat, a wedge head, and folded or erect ears. It is shorter-legged and heavier-bodied than the Rat Terrier.

A small ratting terrier who can live in an apartment if walked and given a job; short coat, little grooming, and a bright voice at the door.

The Teddy Roosevelt Terrier is an American farm ratter, split from the Rat Terrier as the shorter-legged type. The UKC classes it as a Terrier.

Temperament

These terriers are typically lively, affectionate with their household, and game on vermin. They can be vocal and may chase small animals. They need more activity than their size suggests.

They learn quickly and get bored with repetition. Keep sessions short.

The short coat needs only a weekly wipe. Keep this long-backed dog lean.

Patellar luxation and back strain can occur. Limit jumping off furniture.
