The Schiller Hound is a medium, rectangular scenthound with a short black-and-tan coat, a long head, and dropped ears. The outline is that of a light Swedish foxhound, built for all-day work in forest and snow.

The Schiller Hound, or Schillerstovare, is a Swedish scenthound created by Per Schiller from German and British hound blood. It is used on hare and fox. The UKC classes it as a Scenthound.

Color: Black and tan; the black forms a well-defined saddle
Coat: Short, harsh, and close, with a dense undercoat

Temperament

These hounds are typically good-natured at home and determined on a scent. They have a carrying voice and will follow a trail out of an unfenced yard. They need more running than a short leash walk.

Wipe the short coat and clean the ears after work in cover.

Health

The breed is generally hardy. Ear infections are the issue most often seen after field work.
