The Lancashire Heeler is a small, low herding and ratting dog with a short black-and-tan coat, erect ears, and a compact, slightly rectangular body. Some dogs show a slight ridge on the back.

A small cattle-and-ratting dog who can live in a house or apartment if given work; a short weather coat and a sharp bark.
